Emily, Derek & Nora

There are some people you meet through your lens who end up staying in your heart long after the gallery is delivered. That's what happened with Emily & Derek. It all started with their wedding here on Prince Edward Island; one of those days where the light was perfect, the laughter was real and you could just feel something really special in the air. My partner Sean and I were there to capture their love story, their beginning as a married couple, but what I didn't know is that we would meet future family friends. Over time, we developed a bond and we really connected when we both became parents. What began as clients turned into the kind of people you can just text just to say "I'm thinking of you because my kiddo is ALSO not sleeping LOL." I've watched Nora grow from a tiny baby into a funny, bright-eyed big sister.

On this particular afternoon, I got to capture them in that quiet, in-between, with Emily glowing & pregnant with their second child. I loved how Derek wrapped them both in his love, how Nora pressed her little hand to her mama's belly like she knew.

So Emily, Derek & Nota, thank you for letting me keep showing up, not just as your photographer, but as your friend. I cannot wait to meet the newest member of your lil' fam and keep telling your story!
