Julie, Guillaume & Romie
Julie and I have been friends for almost 20 years now (we met at 16 years old): this means I've known her for more than half of the years I've been alive on this earth. We grew up together, partied together, experienced love and heartbreaks and now, are both mothers to daughters. We have lived far from each other for a number of years, but the distance has never really affected our friendship - every time we meet, it's like we never left each other. And I think that's the mark of a great friendship. Reconnecting as mothers felt different.
An understanding of what we both went through, of the challenges of being someone's mother, of birthing a human being. It connected us even more than we already were. My gift to her family was this session; because capturing every little phase is so important. All of the stages of motherhood mean something different, makes us feel something different. And capturing Julie becoming a parent just felt natural and my heart just exploded with happiness at seeing my friend of all these years learn to be a mother, just like I did. To watch her comfort, feed, and most importantly, love her child. It was truly special.
Ma belle Julie... ces photos sont une lettre d'amour à notre amitié qui dure encore, qui a traversée toutes les marées et tous les fous rires, mais surtout, c'est une lettre d'amour à ta belle famille.
Je t'aime.
XO
