Chloe, Jessica, Rosie and Baby: in-home family session before they were four!
I had been following Chloe and Jess for a while before I finally reached out to photograph them (we're talking before Rosie was born hehe). And as a queer photographer and mother, showcasing diverse families was so important to me in my journey as a family and motherhood photographer. Representation is so so crucial, especially in today's climate, and I wanted my portfolio to represent who I am as a person: someone who will always fight for what's right, someone who will fight for injustice, someone who believes that LOVE IS LOVE.
So was invited to their lovely Summerside home on a cold morning to document their ever-growing family because Chloe was still pregnant with baby Charlie at the time. I absolutely fell in love with them and more specifically, with Rosie (because it was our first meeting IRL lol). She was just so curious and playful and just so happy to be with her mothers and their little pup, about to welcome another human to the family. I felt right at home as we chatted and laughed and got to know each other. I think we were just all living in Rosie's world to be honest and I captured their little family as she excitedly showed me every little aspect of her bedroom, from her books, to where her new sibling would sleep, to her precious teddys.
I literally had the best time and the photos that came out of this session will forever be inked in my heart. Their love could be felt from across the room and I'm so grateful AND thankful to have been able to document this little slice of their life. And hopefully I get to be apart of their story again someday.
Xo,
Vee
